University College Cork, Ireland
Your Host Institution Tools
- Review University College Cork's (UCC) What can I study? page to explore your options.
- Use the Book of Modules for Visiting Students on the UCC website to explore courses offered during your planned study term. Visiting Students may only choose modules (classes) from this list.
- Double check that you choose courses offered during the correct study term for your program.
Add-on Options:
- Early Start Program (add-on for Autumn Semester): Students can attend a late summer program of intensive study before the Autumn semester, focused on an aspect of Irish culture, geography, or history. These programs add additional credits to the semester. For more information, review UCC’s What can I study page linked above.
- International Summer School in Irish Studies: Students also have the option to participate in UCC’s summer program, focusing on Irish studies. For more information, review the Summer School in Irish Studies website.
-
A full course load at UCC is 30 ECTS credits (22.5 OSU quarter credits) per semester, which may be 5-6 modules depending on selection.
-
IMPORTANT: Course levels abroad do not necessarily correspond with course levels at OSU. If course level is important to your course selection, submit each course for pre-articulation using the transfer articulation reevaluation form as early as possible in your planning.
-
At UCC, the first number in the subject code indicates the year for UCC students.
- 1000 level courses: these modules are normally taken by first year students
- 2000 level courses: these modules are normally taken by second year students and may require a knowledge of material covered in Year 1 modules
- 3000 level courses: these modules are normally taken by third year students and may require a knowledge of material covered in Year 1 and Year 2 modules
- 4000 level courses: these modules are normally taken by fourth year students and may require knowledge of the material covered in Year 1 to 3 modules
- Exchange students can only choose modules from the Book of Modules for Visiting Students linked above.
- UCC will evaluate your transcript to ensure you meet pre-requisites during the module selection process (mid-August for autumn semester and late-November for spring semester). They will notify you when a decision is made.
Online module selection will take place on the following timeline:
- Autumn Semester: mid- August
- Spring Semester: late-November
Further instructions will be emailed by UCC leading up to departure.

Remember courses abroad count as OSU credits and grades count towards your OSU GPA.
To explore if Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading could be an option for you, talk with your academic advisor. To request S/U grading for courses abroad, you'll need to secure approval from your academic advisor and submit the S/U request form in your OSU GO portal before 70% of the course is complete.
OSU Tools
-
For official determinations on how education abroad courses will be transcribed at OSU, submit each course using the transfer articulation reevaluation form
-
No need to wait! We recommend submitting courses as early as possible in your planning - even while exploring programs!
-
Since course articulation can affect your degree progress and planning, it's important to work closely with your academic advisor to understand how your courses abroad will fit into your academic plan.
- Visit the OSU GO Education Abroad Course Articulation Database to view courses that previous OSU students have taken.
- The database is not a comprehensive list of all courses available and may list courses that are not offered during your program cycle. Check out the host institution tools below fo up to date course offerings.
- Previous articulations are a guide for how a course may appear on your OSU transcript. Given updates to course content, articulation standards, etc., how a course is articulated on your transcript may look different. If a course you plan to take abroad is essential for completion of degree requirements, submit the course information through the form above.
