Elena Rigby, a senior majoring in anthropology, had the opportunity to study in Japan during fall and winter terms of 2024 through the IE3 Global exchange program with Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo.
“Japan was an amazing experience for me! My time flew by so fast…” Rigby said.
Rigby described how she was able to adventure out with her friends while abroad: “In early fall, I was able to go to Nagatoro through AGU’s international program. We left Tokyo to get to some nearby nature, go rafting down the river, pick shiitake mushrooms, and eat Japanese BBQ and muscat grapes.” Rigby said.
Rigby expressed deep gratitude for the memories she made and the opportunity to study abroad, an experience made possible through her scholarship. Elena was a proud recipient of an IE3 scholarship and because of this extra funding, she was able to channel her energy into her major concentration in culture/linguistics while at AGU.
“With secured finances, I was better able to focus on my studies and dedicate my time towards experiencing culture, studying Japanese, and overall gaining a better experience.” Rigby said.
The IE3 Global exchange program at Aoyama Gakuin University, located in the district of Shibuya, provides students with exceptional opportunities to integrate into life at a Japanese University. Students at AGU intensively study Japanese while also participating in a range of subject-based coursework taught in English.
“Thank you to IE3 for making this possible for me! This experience made me a better person and helped me learn more about the world around me.”
